New Delhi: Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister, expressed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is brimming with confidence ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is struggling to find its footing. Speaking to IANS, Sisodia noted that under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, AAP is poised to challenge its opponents, citing a decade of good governance that has left the public satisfied and ready to support them again.
He emphasized that AAP boasts a strong team, with grassroots leader Kejriwal at the helm, and highlighted improvements in education, health, and other sectors over the past ten years.
In contrast, Sisodia criticized the BJP for lacking leadership and a clear agenda for Delhi, claiming their only focus is to criticize the AAP government without presenting any viable alternatives. He described the BJP as “rudderless” and unlikely to pose a significant challenge in the elections.
With Delhi Assembly elections expected in February, political campaigning is intensifying. AAP has rolled out new promises of free electricity and water, while the BJP accuses the AAP government of misleading the public with false promises.
AAP has announced candidates for all 70 seats, notably shifting Sisodia from Patparganj to Jangpura, which the BJP interpreted as a sign of AAP’s insecurity, suggesting they are opting for a safer constituency for their controversial former Deputy Chief Minister.
Facing perhaps its toughest electoral challenge yet, AAP is aiming for a fourth consecutive term, working to counteract the negative impact of controversies like the alleged liquor scandal and other issues on its reputation for honest governance. The party argues these controversies are politically motivated efforts by the BJP-led central government to undermine their achievements over the last decade.
