Barnala: AAP’s Sarpanch killed over objection to drugs, police investigation begins

Sarpanch Sukhjit Singh's uncle's son informed that his brother Sukhjit Singh had an argument with a drug addict.

Barnala: In a shocking incident the newly appointed Sarpanch of  Channa Gulab Singh Wala village was shot dead. The newly appointed Sarpanch of the village, Sukhjit Singh was shot dead by some people last night. Sarpanch Sukhjit Singh’s uncle’s son informed that his brother Sukhjit Singh had an argument with a drug addict.

After that,  40-50 people gathered and came to the Sarpanch’s house, who were armed with sharp weapons.  As soon as they arrived, they attacked the Sarpanch and his family and also fired in the air. During this the Sarpanch was shot.

He was brought to the Civil Hospital Bhadaur from where he was referred to Barnala. However, Sarpanch Sukhjit Singh died on the way. The Sarpanch’s father was also seriously injured in the attack and is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Hospital Bathinda.

As per family, Sukhjit Singh, Aam Aadmi Party was actively fighting the drug menace which sparking a deadly rivalry. Around 40-50 attackers stormed his house, killing him with sharp weapons and injuring his father and associate
