Cold wave in 18 districts of Punjab including Chandigarh, Yellow alert in Patiala-Mohali,

Chandigarh: People of Punjab and Chandigarh will have to face a cold wave till December 24. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for cold wave. Today (Wednesday), a cold wave alert has been issued in 18 districts. The temperature is falling rapidly.

The average maximum temperature has dropped by 0.5 degrees in 24 hours. However, it remains close to normal. Faridkot has recorded the highest average maximum temperature of 24.2 degrees. At the same time, nights have started getting colder now. The night temperature in Faridkot was recorded at 0 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, a western disturbance is forming in the Himalayan region.

Due to this, the temperature will drop in the coming days. This temperature will fall by 2 to 3 degrees. Today, there is an orange alert of cold wave in Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Faridkot and Moga of Punjab. There is a yellow alert for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala and Mohali.

Weather like this increases the chances of several illnesses like flu, runny/stuffy nose or nosebleeds, which are usually caused or worsened by prolonged exposure to cold. Do not ignore shivering.
