AIIMS, CSIR to collaborate for research in healthcare, emerging technologies

New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, announced a collaboration with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on Wednesday to enhance research in healthcare and emerging technologies, as well as policy development. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to foster ongoing dialogue and generate innovative solutions to address.

New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, announced a collaboration with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on Wednesday to enhance research in healthcare and emerging technologies, as well as policy development.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to foster ongoing dialogue and generate innovative solutions to address the healthcare challenges faced in India.

Prof. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, emphasized the significance of leveraging the strengths of both institutions, stating that this partnership will greatly benefit translational research and improve patient care quality.

CSIR is a prominent research organization with an extensive network of laboratories and innovation centers throughout India, recognized for its contributions to various scientific and technological fields.

The collaboration between CSIR and AIIMS seeks to create a synergistic partnership that advances medical research, enhances healthcare delivery, and addresses urgent health issues in India. By combining AIIMS’s clinical expertise with CSIR’s technological and research capabilities, the partnership aims to drive healthcare innovations.

Dr. Vinay Nandicoori, Director of CSIR-CCMB, noted that this partnership could lead to significant breakthroughs in research, ultimately benefiting patient care and scientific advancement in the country.

This collaboration signifies the start of a transformative journey focused on innovation and impactful solutions for India’s healthcare challenges.

AIIMS and CSIR have a history of joint projects, including a current pilot initiative to convert biomedical waste into soil additives. CSIR has also tested this technology in collaboration with AIIMS. Additionally, AIIMS Bhopal is utilizing a molecular PCR-based diagnostic test developed by CSIR-CCMB for patients with sickle cell disease, and the partnership includes joint research efforts on sickle cell disease and genetic health.
