In October 2024, financial aid totaling Rs 22 crore was deposited directly into the accounts of 65,478 women recipients as part of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana scheme. This assistance is provided for the first child’s birth and for a girl child if the second child is born.

The Cabinet Minister explained that women aged 19 and older receive Rs 5,000 in two instalments when they give birth to their first child. Moreover, Rs 6,000 is provided if the second child is a girl. The main goal of this scheme is to offer partial financial support to improve women’s health during and after pregnancy.
