Jaisalmer: The Chief Minister of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that there will be no hike in the GST on Kashmiri Shawl industry says they issue of GST hike was not taken in the metting.
Omar who attended the metting chaired by the Finance Minister Sitharaman told rerporters that he was prepeared to ensure that there will be no hike in GST on Pashmina.
He also said that there were many things discussed in the mettinmg among which some things were aggred and some were deffered. There had been a lot of speculation that GST on shawls particularly Pashmina shawls will be hiked, so we had come prepared to ensure that wouldn’t happen.”
The artisans earlier said that the hike in GST would effect the industry and livelihood of thousands of artisans who is difficulties already
Omar said, “thankfully it wasn’t taken up and we will also ensure that in the future, something like this is not considered because it would be life-threatening to our Pashmina shawl industry.”
Hours before Omar attends the metting the former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that they hope National co0nfrence government will make its stand clear for the welfere of artisand in Kashmir valley.
