Drug smuggler arrested in Chamba: Over 1 kg of Charas recovered

Further action is being taken against the accused.

Chamba: Police have arrested a drug smuggler in Chamba, and 1.16 kg of Charas has been recovered from the accused. Police have seized the bike of the accused and sent him to jail.

According to the information, a police team was standing near the Parel bridge on the Ravi River connecting Chamba-Pathankot NH with Sarol at around 6 am on Monday. Police were present near the bridge when a motorcycle came from the direction of the Shiva temple on the other side of the bridge, which was stopped by the police as part of a routine investigation.

Due to suspicion arising in police interrogation, the police searched the bike rider. In which 1 kg 16 grams of hashish was recovered from the accused. Police seized the bike with the Punjab number and interrogated it, then the bike rider was identified as 31-year-old Alamgir’s son Shmaun resident of village Jury post office Charda tehsil Churah district Chamba.

SP Chamba Abhishek Yadav confirmed the case and said that the police has registered a case against the accused under various sections of the NDPS Act at Chamba Police Station and has seized the bike. Further action is being taken against the accused.
