27 new courses started in Punjab ITI, Rs 12.72 crore will be spent

Due to the new course, 93 percent of the seats have been filled this time, while some ITIs have been upgraded.

The Punjab government has started 27 new courses in ITI this session to make the youth employable. During this time, courses that are in demand in the market have been started. Also, the youth can easily get employment opportunities after completing the course.

These courses include Agro Processing, Baker and Confectioner, Electroplater, Solar Technician and Textile Wet Processing Technician. Due to the new course, 93 percent of the seats have been filled this time, while some ITIs have been upgraded.

The department has upgraded five government ITIs in Ludhiana, Patiala, Mohali, Sunam, and Manakpur Sharif under the MPLAD scheme. Apart from this, the department has signed an agreement for academic cooperation with Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center.

The purpose of this partnership is to provide internships to polytechnic and ITI students in HBCH&RC. 23 Government Industrial Training Institutes have been upgraded under the World Bank-assisted project “STIVE”. Rs 12.72 crore has been spent to buy the latest machinery to upgrade the workshops.

The government has increased 25% seats in government ITI this year, the target is to increase the total number of seats to 52000 by 2025. In the current session 2024-25, 93.04% seats have been filled in 137 government ITI. Dual Skill Training (DST) system has been introduced in Industrial Training Institutes.
