New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal claimed on Wednesday that there are intentions to arrest Delhi Chief Minister Atishi by fabricating charges against her in the coming days. He also suggested that raids on senior AAP leaders are being planned ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.

This statement follows the Health and Family Welfare department’s warning regarding AAP’s registration drive for the Sanjeevani Yojana, a program designed to provide free medical treatment to residents over 60 at both private and government hospitals. In a public notice released in newspapers, the department stated that no such Sanjeevani scheme exists and that it has not authorized anyone to collect personal information from elderly citizens or issue any cards. It labeled any collection of forms related to this scheme as “fraudulent and unauthorized.”

Kejriwal asserted that the announcement of welfare initiatives like the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana has unsettled certain individuals, leading them to orchestrate Atishi’s arrest. “These people are very disturbed by the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana. They plan to arrest Atishi ji in the next few days by fabricating a case. Prior to that, raids will be conducted on senior AAP leaders. I will hold a press conference on this today at 12 o’clock,” he posted on X.

The Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana are two key initiatives introduced by AAP in anticipation of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Kejriwal initiated the registration for these schemes, which target women and senior citizens, on Tuesday, launching a door-to-door campaign.

Under the Mahila Samman Yojana, eligible women who do not pay taxes will receive Rs 1,000 per month, while the Sanjeevani Yojana promises free healthcare for senior citizens in government and private hospitals if AAP is re-elected. This announcement follows visits by AAP leaders, including Chief Minister Atishi and Arvind Kejriwal, to various areas to promote the registration for these initiatives.
