Shimla: Police will not harass drunkards celebrating New Year in Himachal. CM Sukhwinder Sukhu has issued orders to Himachal Police in this regard. According to this tourists who indulge in drunken revelry will not be kept in jail. Not only this, the police will also drop off people who get drunk after drinking alcohol to the police hotel.

The Chief Minister referred to the culture of Atiti Devo Bhava for this. The Chief Minister also said that hotels and dhabas will remain open 24 hours till January 5.
CM Sukhwinder Sukhu said that if someone indulges in drunken revelry, he will be dropped off at the hotel. It does not mean that he will be locked up in jail. The CM further said that the police have also been instructed to drop off the people coming with their families to their hotels with great love.
CM Sukhu said that the government has decided that for the convenience of tourists, hotels, dhabas and restaurants will be kept open 24 hours till January 5. A notification has also been issued for this. Due to this, tourists will not have to sleep hungry if they arrive late. No action will be taken against those who keep food shops open till late night.
