189 doctors from IGMC Shimla and Chamiyana Super Specialty Hospital to go on casual leave

During this time only 50 percent of the remaining staff of the hospital will be on duty.

Shimla: 189 doctors of Himachal Pradesh’s largest health institute IGMC and Super Specialty Hospital Chamiyana Shimla are going on a month’s leave. Patients will have to face trouble in the coming days due to doctor’s leave.

151 doctors of IGMC Shimla and 36 doctors of Super Specialty Hospital Chamiyana will be on leave together from tomorrow. After their return to duty, the second batch of doctors will go on leave. During this time only 50 percent of the remaining staff of the hospital will be on duty.

Senior MS of IGMC Dr. Rahul Rao said that the doctors will go on leave in 2 batches. The first batch will leave on 26 December and the second batch will leave on 31 January. In the first batch, doctors from 24 departments will be on leave. At the same time, senior Dr. Sudhir Sharma of Chamiyana Hospital said that the doctors will go on leave in two batches. In the first batch, 36 doctors from their 15 departments will be on leave for 31 days.

Let us tell you that every year doctors go on winter vacation here. Faculty members of the hospital get 31 days of leave, and resident doctors get 30 days of leave. The IGMC administration has released its leave schedule.

IGMC Shimla has an OPD of 3200 to 3500 patients daily. Patients referred to IGMC not only from Shimla district but also from hospitals across the state reach here. In such a situation, with 189 doctors going on leave at the same time, patients will have to wait for a long time for treatment in the OPD.
