Ludhiana:

In a dramatic turn of events, a Congress councilor from Ward number 6 Jagdish Lal switched thrice between the parties within a few hours on Thursday.

Jagdish Lal was first inducted into Aam Aadmi Party earlier in the day but later in the evening, Congress released the photo announcing that Jagdish Lal will remain a member of Congress. After hours, AAP leaders reach his residence and Jagdish Lal is again inducted into AAP.

While addressing the media, Jagdish Lal said that it is the final decision and he chose AAP only with one motive and that is development of his ward. “People of my ward have supported me because I had promised them to provide them clean drinking water and had ensured better development of the ward. I believe that I will be able to fulfill this promise only with the support of AAP because it is the AAP government in state. I do not want any obstructions in the development works of my ward due to political reasons. Therefore, with no pressure from anyone, I decided to join AAP,” he said.

He added, “Whether it is former MLA Sanjay Talwar, or sitting AAP MLA Daljeet Grewal, all are my brothers and I have good relations with them.”

Earlier in the day, The Aam Aadmi Party had issued a press release stating that Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar formally inducted Jagdish Lal into the party in presence of MLAs Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal, Chaudhary Madan Lal Bagga, along with Markfed Chairman Amandeep Singh Mohi and others.

However later in the evening, District Congress president Sanjay Talwar went to the residence of Jagdish Lal and convinced him to stay with the Congress party. Talwar had stated that Jagdish Lal is part of Congress family and he will remain Congress member.

Talwar said that PPCC chief and Lok Sabha MP from Ludhiana Amarinder Singh Raja Warring have also talked to Jagdish Lal on phone and Raja Warring has told him that every member of Congress is an important member of the family.

Talwar had accused the AAP leaders of using different tactics to pressurize the victorious candidates of different political parties and forcibly inducting them to AAP, just to form their mayor. However, later, Jagdish Lal denied any political pressure.

FIR against SAD councilor Chatarveer Singh 24 hrs before joining AAP

Recently, a Shiromani Akali Dal councilor from ward 20 Chatarveer Singh alias Kamal Arora had joined Aam Aadmi Party and then it came to light that just a day prior to his joining, an FIR was registered against him at Division number 7 police station on the complaint by AAP worker Rakesh Kumar of Sanjay Gandhi Colony.

Rakesh in his complaint had stated that Chatarveer along with his accomplices had confronted him during municipal corporation election on December 21 when he was working at the booth of AAP outside BCM School in Sector 32. Rakesh alleged that he was kidnapped and assaulted by them.

On his complaint, the police had lodged an FIR against Charatveer Singh on December 22 and on December 23, he joined Aam Aadmi Party.

Even Akali Dal leaders have accused AAP leaders of engaging in unethical practices to secure a majority in the municipal corporation.
