Chandigarh: After snowfall in the mountains, cold is continuously gaining strength in the plain areas of Punjab-Chandigarh. Amidst the warning of a cold wave, a fog alert has now been issued. The fog was seen in some districts of Punjab since Monday night. At the same time, by morning, visibility has been recorded close to zero at many places. At the same time, the day temperature of Punjab is about 5 degrees below normal.
According to the Meteorological Center, a yellow alert has been issued regarding fog and cold wave in Punjab today. In which a cold wave alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar and Mohali.
At the same time, a fog alert has been issued in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur and Malerkotla. Here the visibility can go down to 50 meters or even below.
According to the Meteorological Center, there will not be much change in the temperature of Punjab and Chandigarh today. But there is a possibility of getting slight relief from January 1. But around January 6, two western disturbances are becoming active whose effects will be seen on the Western Himalayan Range.
After this there are chances of snowfall on the mountains again. It is estimated that the cold will increase again in the plains in the coming days.
