Bengaluru: Kannada film icon Dr. Shivarajkumar, son of legendary actor Dr. Rajkumar, posted a heartfelt video from the U.S. on January 1, 2025, where he shared his journey of battling cancer and reassured fans of his return.

In the video, Shivarajkumar expressed his New Year wishes and admitted, “I find it hard to speak as I feel emotional right now. Leaving Karnataka was a tough experience for me. It’s natural to feel fear in such situations, but the support from my fans has helped alleviate it.”

He recounted how the care he received from doctors gave him strength, mentioning that he underwent chemotherapy while filming for his movie ‘45’ and even shot the climax fight scene during treatment. As his departure to the U.S. for treatment drew near, he felt anxious, but his wife Geetha and daughter Nivedita provided unwavering support.

Shivarajkumar thanked Dr. Manohar, his physician, for treating him with such kindness. He shared that although his urinary bladder was replaced, there’s no need for concern, as he is doing well and plans to return with renewed energy. He expressed gratitude to his fans for their constant support.

Geetha Shivarajkumar joined him in the video, announcing that all medical reports have returned negative, confirming that Shivarajkumar is now cancer-free. “His recovery is due to the blessings of his fans, and I will always cherish this,” she noted.

The actor underwent surgery in Miami, where his cancerous bladder was removed, and Dr. Murugesh Manoharan, the surgeon, explained that an artificial bladder was created from his intestine.

In November, Shivarajkumar had publicly acknowledged his health struggles, stating that he is human and dealing with a health issue. While he didn’t specify it was cancer then, he mentioned undergoing treatment and preparing for surgery, either in India or the U.S.
