Bengaluru: The court has postponed the hearing in the Renukaswamy murder case to February 25, following the appearance of accused Kannada actor Darshan and his partner, actress Pavithra Gowda.

While granting bail, the court instructed both Darshan and Pavithra to report to the court monthly. The presence of all accused was noted, with Pavithra arriving early alongside another accused, Pradoosh, while Darshan arrived later with his lawyer.

Darshan, Pavithra, and 15 other individuals were arrested on June 11, 2024, on charges of kidnapping and the brutal murder of Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga. Renukaswamy allegedly sent inappropriate messages to Pavithra, which angered Darshan, who was in a relationship with her despite being married.

Following the emergence of photos depicting Darshan’s purported “royal treatment” at Bengaluru Central Prison, he was moved to Ballari Prison. He faces three FIRs related to the case, with the police submitting a comprehensive 3,991-page chargesheet on September 4, along with an additional chargesheet.

Darshan was released from custody on October 30, 2024, after spending 131 days in jail. Meanwhile, the Karnataka Police have appealed to the Supreme Court against the High Court’s decision to grant him bail.

Pavithra, known to be Darshan’s longtime companion, reportedly competed with his wife, Vijayalaxmi, over luxury items. She allegedly pressured Darshan for public appearances together after he was seen with his wife, leading to a public feud between Pavithra and Vijayalaxmi. Renukaswamy, who supported Vijayalaxmi, criticized Pavithra, which police believe contributed to his violent death.
