Shimla: Himachal’s women volleyball team beat Haryana 3-0 in the National Volleyball Championship being held in Jaipur, Rajasthan. With this, Himachal’s women team has made it to the best 8. Now the quarterfinal match will be played day after tomorrow.
State’s women team coach Santoshi Rekta said that our girls are performing very well. She said that the 3-0 win over Haryana has further boosted the morale of the players.
Men’s team has also won 3 out of 5 matches
At the same time, the men’s team is also performing brilliantly under the leadership of captain Akshay Kapta. Himachal men’s volleyball team has won 3 out of 5 matches. Himachal has defeated Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Daman Diu.
Excellent performance without coaching camp
The men’s team is performing brilliantly even without a coaching camp. The camp could not be organized due to irregularities in the selection of the team. This tournament will run till January 13 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
62 teams are participating
More than 500 participants from 62 teams across the country are participating in this competition. It is being organized by the ad hoc committee of the Indian Volleyball Association. 34 men’s and 28 women’s teams are participating.
On the basis of this tournament, the teams that will participate in the upcoming 38th National Games to be held in Uttarakhand from 28 January to 14 February will be decided.
