Khanauri: Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike continues for the 48th day today (Sunday) at Khanauri Kisan Morcha. His condition remains critical. Today, a large group of farmers from Hisar in Haryana will come to Khanauri Kisan Morcha in support of Dallewal. On the other hand, BJP chief Sunil Jakhar has said in an interview to a media organization that the legal guarantee law of MSP of crops is harmful for the farmers of Punjab. He said that the farmers of Punjab and Haryana are given MSP by the Center on the purchase of wheat and paddy.

But due to the implementation of MSP at the national level, the farmers will lose the benefits they get under the existing system. The BJP leader said that if the guarantee of SSP law is implemented across the country, then Punjab will also come under the per acre purchase rule from the Center like other states. He has expressed concern over the deteriorating health of farmer leader Dallewal, who is on a fast unto death. He has also demanded a discussion on the issue of MSP by calling an immediate assembly session.

Dallewal’s medical report is worrying

According to the report, the amount of ketone body result of Jagjit Singh Dallewal is 6.53, which should be between 0.02 to 0.27 in normal conditions. His uric acid is 11.64, whereas in normal conditions it should be between 3.50 to 7.20. Apart from this, bilirubin direct is 0.69, which should be less than 0.20 in normal conditions. His total protein is also low and there is a deficiency of sodium, potassium and chloride in the body. The serum report of liver and kidney panel result is 1.67, which should normally be less than 1.00.

Coordination meeting at the front, not Patiala

Farmer leaders said that yesterday the United Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha issued a joint letter. In this letter, all the farmer leaders who came to the Khanauri front were thanked and it was hoped that they would cooperate in making the ongoing movement for the MSP guarantee law and 13 other demands more comprehensive and strong.

It was further written in this letter that “In view of the critical condition of Jagjit Singh Dallewal, we humbly request you to hold a mutual meeting tomorrow or day after tomorrow at the Khanauri front because in view of his condition every moment is precious and we are not in a position to leave the front. We hope that you will accept our request.”

Hunger strike also held in Telangana
