New Delhi: The Delhi BJP stated on Sunday that Purvanchali voters will hold AAP and its leader Arvind Kejriwal accountable for his recent comments labeling them as “fake” voters.

The BJP shared a poster on social media, branding Kejriwal as ‘Jaani Dushman’ (bitter enemy) of the Purvanchali community. They criticized him for considering residents from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh as fake voters while suggesting that Rohingyas and illegal immigrants are treated as his allies.

The poster emphasized that the Purvanchali voters, whom Kejriwal dismissed, will respond to AAP in the upcoming February 5 elections. It also accused him of driving Purvanchalis out of Delhi during the COVID-19 pandemic by making announcements on loudspeakers.

Additionally, the poster condemned Kejriwal for failing to clean the Yamuna River, which prevented women from observing the Chhath fast in the river. Despite his repeated promises to clean the Yamuna before elections, the BJP pointed out that he blamed the party for the lack of development for Purvanchalis after his controversial remarks.

With Purvanchalis making up 42 percent of Delhi’s 1.55 crore voters, their influence is significant in nearly half of the city’s 70 Assembly constituencies. Key areas with a strong Purvanchali presence include Burari, Laxmi Nagar, and Dwarka. The Assembly elections are set for February 5, with results to be announced on February 8. Currently, AAP holds 62 seats, while the BJP has eight.
