Beirut: An Israeli airstrike near the Shebaa Farms in southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of three individuals, according to a Lebanese military source. The source, who requested anonymity, reported that an Israeli drone launched an air-to-ground missile at the Bastra area south of Shebaa, leading to the fatalities.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed in a statement on Saturday that their air force had targeted three “suspects” in the vicinity of the Israeli-annexed Shebaa Farms.

Lebanon’s General Directorate of Civil Defence announced on Sunday that they had recovered two bodies in the town of Khiam, as well as the bodies and remains of eight individuals in Naqoura, two bodies in Biyyadah, and one in Tayr Harfa.

Additionally, Israeli warplanes conducted airstrikes on Sunday night around Baalbek city in eastern Lebanon, marking the first such action since the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel took effect on November 27, 2024. Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that the strikes targeted the town of Jenta in the Baalbek-Hermel district, but did not specify if there were any casualties.

In southern Lebanon, Israeli aircraft carried out six intense airstrikes targeting multiple areas, according to NNA.

The ceasefire, facilitated by the US and France, aimed to end nearly 14 months of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. The agreement stipulates Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory within 60 days, with the Lebanese army assuming security along the border. It also prohibits the presence of weapons or militants in the region.

Despite the ceasefire, Israeli forces have continued to conduct operations in Lebanon, albeit with reduced intensity, resulting in some deaths and injuries. Israel has also accused Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire terms.
