Punjab Weather Update: Orange alert regarding fog issued by IMD, weather change likely after Jan 14

The Meteorological Department has today issued an orange alert regarding dense fog and cold wave in 11 districts of Punjab

Chandigarh: An orange alert regarding fog in Punjab-Chandigarh has been issued by IMD today. Visibility is expected to be less than 50 meters here. Along with this, cold is also expected to increase. According to the Meteorological Center, in the last 24 hours, due to two western disturbances active around Punjab, rain was seen in many areas.

At the same time, now after two days a new western disturbance is becoming active. The Meteorological Department has today issued an orange alert regarding dense fog and cold wave in 11 districts of Punjab, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Patiala and Malerkotla.

While a yellow alert has been issued for dense fog in SAS Nagar, Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Muktsar, Faridkot, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur and Pathankot. Apart from this, a yellow alert has also been issued regarding dense fog in Chandigarh.

Talking about Sunday, Gurdaspur in Punjab was the coldest city in the state. The minimum temperature here was recorded at 5 degrees. At the same time, the maximum temperature in Fazilka was recorded at 19.6 degrees. The maximum temperature in Chandigarh was recorded at 18.4 degrees and the minimum temperature at 11 degrees. While 5.5 mm of rain was also seen here on Sunday morning.

The weather is expected to remain dry in Punjab on January 13 and 14. A new western disturbance is becoming active from the night of January 14. Due to this rain will be seen in the plains of Punjab on January 15 and 16.
