Chandigarh: The Punjab government will dedicate Hotel Ranwas The Palace, located in the historic Qila Mubarak of the royal city of Patiala, Punjab, to the people on the occasion of Lohri today (Monday). CM Bhagwant Mann will inaugurate it. The government claims that this is the only hotel in the world built in a Sikh palace. At the same time, now on the lines of Rajasthan, hotel destination wedding will be promoted here. This will also promote tourism.

The government has been working on this project for many years. Two years ago in 2022, this project gained momentum. The area of Ranwas, Gilukhana and Lassi Khana located in Qila Mubarak have been converted into a heritage hotel. The Archaeological Department itself is getting the repair work of this building done by an organization in Delhi.

The government had released a fund of six crores in the initial phase. This hotel has been prepared within Qila Mubarak, the house of Baba Ala Singh, the founder of Patiala city. The roof of the hotel is made of wood. As soon as you enter the fort, there is Ranwas Bhawan on the left. The queens of Patiala state lived in this building and were rarely allowed to go out of the building.

The upper part of this two-storey building has 3 excellent painting chambers, which have priceless paintings. There is a place called Lassi Khana. Where food was cooked and distributed to the female maids living inside. The lower part of the two-storey building has facing halls, which have been converted into rooms through partitions.

This is how the fort was built

Qila Mubarak was first built in 1763 by Sidhu Jat Shak Baba Ala Singh, the founder of the Patiala dynasty, as a Kachchi Garhi (mud fort). Later it was built with baked bricks. It is said that the original fort built in 1763 was an extension of the already existing Mughal fort built by Governor Hussain Khan in Patiala.

The inner part of the fort, known as Qila Androon, was built by Maharaja Amar Singh.
