Chandigarh: The rebel Akali leaders have sought a meeting with Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh. The rebel faction has once again accused the Shiromani Akali Dal of undermining the religious authority of the Akal Takht by forming a parallel panel to reorganise the party.

The allegation comes after Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh’s statement in which he said that the party has not yet fully implemented the order given by five Sikh Jathedars on December 2.

The order called for reorganising the party under a seven-member panel formed by the Akal Takht. Gurpartap Singh Wadala has alleged that the Shiromani Akali Dal has so far claimed that the party is registered with the Election Commission as a secular party and it cannot take instructions from any religious body.

Conspiracy to weaken Sri Akal Takht Sahib

Gurpratap Singh Wadala, a member of the formed committee, has alleged – It is extremely disappointing that the current leadership of the SAD has betrayed the Sikh Panth and weakened the supremacy of the Akal Takht.

A parallel committee was formed to run the party’s membership campaign, while the Jathedar has already announced that the panel formed by the Akal Takht will remain valid. We are seeking time to meet the Jathedar and clarify the position of the panel.

Allegations against the core committee of the Akali Dal

Wadala claimed that the core committee of the Akali Dal is misleading by presenting irrational constitutional and legal excuses. Another rebel Akali leader Prem Singh Chandumajra criticized the Akali Dal on social media. The party failed the approach of the Akal Takht for the revival of the Akali Dal and disrespected its order.

DSGMC also came out in protest

The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has also expressed its anger against the SAD. DSGMC Dharm Prachar Samiti and Punjab chairman Manjit Singh Bhoma said the SAD leadership has challenged the authority of the Akal Takht and formed a panel of like-minded people, which the Sikh community will never accept.
