Jalandhar: ‘A’ certificate examinations were conducted in six battalions of NCC Group Jalandhar in which cadets from more than three thousand schools participated. Examinations were held in fifteen examination centers of Jalandhar, Phagwara, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala in which cadets from hundred schools participated in the examinations.
A certificate examination of the world’s largest uniformed institution is the first examination of NCC. In the two years of NCC training, a ten-day camp is mandatory, only then the cadets can appear for the A certificate examination.
Colonel Vinod Joshi said that 600 cadets of 2 Punjab NCC Battalion Jalandhar participated in the NCC examinations. 578 NCC cadets appeared for their examinations in Lyallpur Khalsa College and 64 cadets appeared for their examinations in Government Senior Secondary School Tanda. Colonel Vinod said that written examination of 350 marks and practical examination of 150 marks are conducted in a single day.
Cadets are given examinations on discipline and unity along with 25 other subjects. The main objective of NCC is to make the youth responsible citizens and to awaken the spirit of patriotism. More than 600 cadets from 28 schools of 2 Punjab NCC Battalion participated in the examination. Every year A certificate examinations are held in the month of January all over India.
B and C certificate examinations are held in the month of February. At Lyallpur Khalsa College, 14 associate NCC officers and 5 care taking officers from various schools were present with the cadets in the examinations. Practical training includes drill, disassembling and assembling weapons, map reading, field craft and battle craft etc. All the cadets and staff left for their homes after the examination with a group photo, NCC song and Bharat Mata ki Jai.
