Jailed MP Amritpal Singh reaches High Court, seeks permission to attend Republic Day parade and Parliament session

Earlier, Amritpal Singh had sent a memorandum to the DM of Amritsar on December 17, seeking permission to attend the upcoming session of the Lok Sabha, on which no action was taken.

Chandigarh: Member of Parliament from Khadoor Sahib and Pro Khalistan Amritpal Singh has filed a petition in the Punjab-Haryana High Court regarding Republic Day. Through the petition, the MP has sought permission to attend the Republic Day parade and the Lok Sabha session.

Earlier, Amritpal Singh had sent a memorandum to the DM of Amritsar on December 17, seeking permission to attend the upcoming session of the Lok Sabha, on which no action was taken. Therefore, he has now filed a petition in the High Court and sought the same.

Amritpal Singh has argued in his petition that his participation in the Republic Day and the session of Parliament is in the interest of justice and equality. He described it as a symbol of democratic values ​​and the fundamental principles enshrined in the Constitution. He says that his presence in these programs of national importance is a matter of public interest. The High Court can now hear this petition of Amritpal Singh in one day.

Through the petition, Amritpal has demanded from the court that the concerned authorities be asked to allow him to attend these important programs. He says that as a member of Parliament, it is his constitutional duty to participate in the session of Parliament and raise public issues in Parliament. In the petition, Amritpal has made the Government of India, the Punjab Government and others as parties. However, it has not been listed yet.
