Jalandhar: Senior Congress leaders staged a sit-in protest at Doctor Baba Sahib Ambedkar Chowk (Nakodar Chowk) in Jalandhar, Punjab today i.e. on Friday. This protest was held regarding the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in which he commented on Dr. BR Ambedkar.
A sit-in was held at Doctor BR Ambedkar Chowk under the leadership of Jalandhar District President of Congress Rajinder Berry where slogans were raised against the BJP. Former MLA and District President of Congress Jalandhar Rajinder Berry and senior Congress leader Surinder Kaur along with Congress workers raised slogans against the BJP and called the BJP anti-Dalit.
Berry said – Attempt to tamper with the Constitution
District President Rajinder Berry said – Protest is being held against the comment made by the Modi government and Home Minister Amit Shah on Dr. BR Ambedkar. The BJP government is trying to tamper with the Constitution. In such a situation, if the BJP government tries to tamper with the Constitution, then even if we have to sit on a hunger strike in the coming days, we will not back down.
Surinder Kaur said- Amit Shah insulted Dalits
Leader Surinder Kaur said- Home Minister Amit Shah’s comment on Dr. BR Ambedkar is an insult to Dalits. The people of the country will never forgive him. The working style of the country runs according to the Constitution run by Dr. BR Ambedkar.
But the BJP government has probably forgotten that during the swearing-in ceremony, the Constitution of Dr. BR Ambedkar is completed by taking an oath. Today, making wrong comments about the same Baba Saheb is reprehensible. The BJP government will never succeed in its policy of dividing people on the basis of religion in the country.
