New Delhi: On January 26, New Delhi celebrated the 76th Republic Day with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President J.P. Nadda hoisting the national flag at the party’s headquarters.
The event saw the attendance of various BJP leaders who joined Nadda in honoring the nation’s spirit. After raising the Tricolour, the national anthem was played, followed by the distribution of sweets by Nadda to those present.
In his closing remarks, Nadda extended Republic Day wishes to all Indians. Earlier, he shared a post on X, expressing his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes, while also paying tribute to the architects of the Constitution, freedom fighters, and brave soldiers who upheld the country’s sovereignty and unity. He encouraged citizens to uphold India’s democratic values and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared his Republic Day greetings on social media, emphasizing the day as a reminder of India’s commitment to constitutional values, social equality, and democracy. He urged citizens to strive for a “Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat” under PM Modi’s guidance.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh offered his warm wishes, emphasizing the significance of the day in celebrating democracy and cherishing Constitutional values while praying for the country’s ongoing progress.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar joined the celebrations with a simple, “Wishing everyone a happy Republic Day. Jai Hind.”
Republic Day is observed every year on January 26, marking the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950. This date was chosen to commemorate the Purna Swaraj (complete self-rule) declaration made by the Indian National Congress in 1930, which called for full independence from British rule.
