Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor has reflected on his past relationships, sharing how heartbreak taught him valuable lessons about love and self-respect. Speaking in a recent conversation with Raj Shamani, the actor admitted that in his younger years, he had chased love to the extent of losing his dignity. “Sometimes you love someone so much that when they reject you, you chase them to a degree that you start losing your dignity. You sacrifice your dignity and you don’t even realise that you have lost your self-respect in the process, and that realisation happens much later and you think, ‘What was I doing?’” he shared.
Shahid went on to say that heartbreaks help shape one’s understanding of what they truly seek in a partner. He added, “You decide who you want to become, and if it hasn’t helped you decide who you want to become, then you have wasted the opportunity, or you have not gotten anything good out of it.” The actor further emphasised that love should not stem from neediness. “We all want that love and attention but eventually, you should be able to give in a relationship. You should be able to be the giver,” he stated.
