Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has expressed hope of justice for the state from the Union Budget 2025. Finance Minister Cheema said- “We hope, this time justice will be done to the state. Ever since the BJP government has come to power at the Centre, Punjab is being financially discriminated against. But this time there is full hope that Punjab will definitely get something.”
Cheema said that in the pre-budget meeting held in Jaisalmer, the Punjab government had raised many important issues related to the agriculture sector. These include guarantee of MSP, promotion of agricultural diversification, special assistance for stubble management, special package for farming.
Demand for special economic package for border districts
Harpal Cheema said that Punjab is a border state, hence a special package is needed for the border districts so that the youth can get employment. He demanded an industrial package for Punjab like Jammu and Kashmir.
Demand to strengthen police infrastructure
Apart from this, the Punjab government has also demanded Rs 1000 crore so that the police infrastructure in border areas can be strengthened and security system can be improved.
