Chandigarh: In Punjab, dense fog has once again gripped the region, with Chandigarh also starting the Sunday morning shrouded in fog. Residents strolling at Sukna Lake faced difficulties due to the haze. A walkathon for cancer awareness was organized at Sukna Lake on Sunday morning, attracting a large number of participants. The walkathon stretched from Sukna Lake to Chandigarh Club.
In several areas of Punjab, visibility was severely impacted, with Patiala and Ludhiana registering visibility of only 20 meters on Saturday morning, while Amritsar reported 500 meters. Additionally, temperatures have dipped, with a recorded decrease of 2 degrees in Punjab on Saturday, bringing the temperature to 1.8 degrees below normal. The weather department has issued a rain alert for some areas in Punjab for Monday and Tuesday, potentially leading to further drops in temperature and increasing cold conditions in the coming days.
On Saturday, the highest temperature recorded was 23.2 degrees in Hoshiarpur. Other recorded temperatures included 17.5 in Amritsar, 17.7 in Ludhiana, 20.6 in Patiala, 21.8 in Gurudaspur, 16.9 in Ferozepur, and 20.7 degrees in Sangrur. The minimum temperature in Punjab increased by 1.6 degrees, remaining 3.5 degrees above the norm, with the lowest temperature recorded at 7.6 degrees in Bathinda. Other recorded minimums included 10.5 in Amritsar, 8.8 in Ludhiana, 11.4 in Patiala, 9.5 in Faridkot, 8.5 in Gurudaspur, 9.1 in SBS Nagar, and 8.9 degrees in Fazilka.
