Una: There was chaos in the Regional Hospital located in Una district on Wednesday when a sudden fire broke out in the gynecology ward. The entire ward was filled with smoke due to a short circuit in the electrical control panel installed between two rooms of the gynecology ward.
At the time of the incident, more than three dozen pregnant women and newborns were present in the ward. The Home Guard jawans and nursing staff posted in the hospital showed promptness and evacuated all the patients safely and shifted them to another ward.
On receiving the information, senior medical officer Dr. Vikas Chauhan and other doctors also reached the spot. After this, the fire was controlled with the help of the fire department. Earlier, a major accident was averted by cutting off the power supply and the equipment damaged by the fire has been removed.

The hospital’s medical superintendent Dr. Sanjay Mankotia said that the fire caused by the short circuit has been controlled. He has issued instructions to immediately replace the damaged equipment. All the patients and their family members are safe in the incident. The incident highlights the need to inspect the hospital’s electrical system.
