Shimla: Shimla police has arrested members of the interstate Drug smuggler Sandeep Shah gang. Police has arrested 10 drug smugglers of the gang on the basis of investigation of the money trail. On Monday, police raided the gang’s hideouts at various places in Shimla district.
The arrested accused include Nikhil Sen, Manuj Thakur, Aman Shobta, Kapil Chandel, Sushil Verma, Aayan Chauhan and Sushil Sharma along with two other persons. They have been arrested from various places of Shimla, Theog, Kotkhai, Rohru Chidgaon of Shimla district.
Police investigation has revealed that this drug mafia was running its network not only in Himachal Pradesh but in the entire North India. Shah gang had created an organized supply chain, in which social media platforms and online booking were used. Police succeeded in reaching these accused by tracing the money trail.
About Rs 4 crore deposited in 29 bank accounts frozen
In this action of Shimla Police, a total of 26 accused including the main gang leader have been arrested so far. This action is being considered an important step towards curbing drug trafficking in the area. The leader of the gang Sandeep Shah was a software engineer by profession. He had formed a syndicate of about 200 people by using modern techniques.
Who used to work together for him in the smuggling network. After arresting the kingpin a few days ago, now the police is arresting the peddlers associated with this syndicate. Apart from this, the police has also frozen the amount of about Rs 4 crore deposited in 29 bank accounts related to the gang. The police claim that this gang has carried out drug smuggling worth Rs 25 to 30 crore.
SP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi said that police action against drug smuggler Sandeep Shah syndicate is continuing. Police has arrested ten more people associated with this gang. After a thorough investigation in the case, these people have been arrested on the basis of the facts found about the transactions. In the coming days, many more people related to this case will be arrested.
