US military aircraft C-17 landed at Amritsar airport. It is expected to have 104 people including 33 from Haryana. This flight left for Amritsar airport from San Antonio on Tuesday afternoon and will land today at the Amritsar airport.
Since the flight took off from the US, there has been a lot of activity at Amritsar airport. A series of meetings are going on. Indian security agencies have been deployed at Amritsar airport.
A senior officer associated with the Amritsar district administration said on the condition of anonymity that no order has been received yet to detain the 205 Indians coming after deportation, nor has any detention center been built by the district administration.
According to the information, 11 crew members and 45 US officials will also accompany the plane coming from the US, who will return after landing the 205 Indians at Amritsar airport.
According to sources connected to the Amritsar administration, the documents of all the people coming in the American plane will be checked at the Amritsar airport. Apart from immigration etc., the entire background of these people, especially criminal records, will also be checked.
Former Amritsar passport officer JS Sodhi informed that any person who is deported does not have his passport. In such a situation, the concerned Indian embassy issues them a certificate, which is taken back as soon as they land in India.
Before issuing this certificate, the Indian embassy collects detailed information about the concerned person, and this certificate is given only when everything is found to be correct. The former passport officer informed that even after returning to India, the local police keep an eye on them. Their verification is done again.
