Oscar nominated Emilia Perez to screen in India at the Red Lorry Film Festival

Mumbai: The Red Lorry Film Festival is returning for its second edition, expanding its reach to include Hyderabad alongside Mumbai. The festival will feature a selection of internationally acclaimed films, such as Emilia Perez, The Girl with the Needle, and Queer. A standout film, Emilia Perez, has made history with 13 Oscar nominations, the most ever for a non-English-language.

Mumbai: The Red Lorry Film Festival is returning for its second edition, expanding its reach to include Hyderabad alongside Mumbai.

The festival will feature a selection of internationally acclaimed films, such as Emilia PerezThe Girl with the Needle, and Queer. A standout film, Emilia Perez, has made history with 13 Oscar nominations, the most ever for a non-English-language film. It boasts a talented cast, including Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez, Karla Sofia Gascon, and Adriana Paz. Notably, Gascon is the first transgender woman nominated for an Oscar in acting. The film also won the Jury Prize and a shared Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Another eagerly awaited film is The Girl with the Needle, a gripping period drama set in 1919 Copenhagen. It follows Karoline, a young seamstress portrayed by Vic Carmen Sonne, who faces a harrowing dilemma after becoming pregnant by her wealthy lover (Joachim Fjelstrup), who refuses to marry her. She must choose between a risky self-abortion or collaborating with a dubious adoption agency. The film premiered at Cannes and later at the Toronto Film Festival, receiving acclaim for its intense narrative and powerful ending.

The festival will take place in Mumbai and Hyderabad from March 21 to 23.
