Kapurthala: The Income Tax Department has taken major action against Congress MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh in Kapurthala, Punjab. On Thursday morning, the Income Tax Department team from Chandigarh raided the MLA’s residence on Circular Road.
The team came in four to five vehicles and was accompanied by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel. During the raid, all the gates of the residence were locked from inside. The local police was also not informed about this action in advance.
During the investigation, the mobile phones of all the employees of the MLA’s office were found switched off. Income Tax Department officials are currently refraining from sharing any information about the reasons for the raid and the details of the investigation. No official statement has yet been issued regarding the case in which this action has been taken.
