Penalty imposed on electricity department in Tohana, Consumer commission took action

Another case of negligence of the South Haryana Electricity Distribution Corporation has come to light in Tohana, Fatehabad. The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has made an important decision in favor of the consumer by reprimanding the Electricity Department Rural.

Pramila, a resident of the village Jamalpur Shekha, said that she had applied to increase the load of the electricity connection of her farm from 14.92 kW to 20 kW.

Even after completing all the formalities, the Electricity Corporation did not increase the load. On this, the victim lodged a complaint with the Consumer Commission through her lawyer Rajiv Gandhi.

Hearing the case, the Commission has ordered the Electricity Department to increase the load of the connection within two months. Also, the department has been directed to give Rs 25,000 as compensation to the consumer.

The Commission has also clarified that if the compensation amount is not paid within the time limit of two months, then the department will have to pay with 8 percent annual interest.
