Punjab to launch 347 electric buses in 5 cities to boost transport, reduce pollution

Chandigarh: To strengthen the public transport system in five cities of Punjab, the government has made preparations to run electric buses. The government has started the process of purchasing a total of 347 electric buses. Of these buses, 100 buses are being purchased for Amritsar, 97 for Jalandhar, 100 buses for Ludhiana and 50 buses.

Study on running buses in Mohali completed

Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Punjab Government is working on starting electric city bus service for Mohali cluster. Kharar, Kurali, Zirakpur, Mullanpur, Derabassi and Banur will be included in this. The Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Corporation (PMIDC) has completed the study on the feasibility of operating electric buses for Mohali. Electric buses will provide comfortable travel and reliable transport services to the city dwellers. These various initiatives of the Punjab Government are not only important for protecting the environment but are also a testimony to the commitment to provide modern, convenient and efficient urban transport services to the citizens.
