27-year-old youth dies of drug overdose in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: A 27-year-old youth died of drug overdose in Jalandhar, Punjab. The deceased has been identified as Varinder Kumar alias Bindu, son of Raj Lubhaya, a resident of Adampur. Jalandhar: A 27-year-old youth died of drug overdose in Jalandhar, Punjab. The deceased has been identified as Varinder Kumar alias Bindu, son of Raj Lubhaya, a resident of Adampur. The body of the deceased has been recovered from near the bus stand of Adampur. The body has been sent to the civil hospital for postmortem. Further action will be taken by the police in the case after the postmortem report arrives.

The dead body was first seen by the people living nearby in the park near Adampur bus stand. After which the information about the case was given to the police control room. When the police reached the spot, no suspicious thing was found at the crime scene. Investigation revealed that the said youth was a drug addict.

According to the information received, Varinder Kumar alias Bindu used to install flex boards. He was undergoing treatment at a de-addiction centre for quite some time. The deceased was not married. He lived with his family. Police investigation is on as to how he reached there.

BJP was protesting against drug abuse in Punjab

According to the information received, the BJP is constantly cornering the Punjab government over the drugs being sold in Punjab. Regarding this, a few days ago, former MP Sushil Rinku and former MLA and senior BJP leader Sheetal Angural, along with other colleagues, had staged a massive protest in Jalandhar. In which they raised the issue of drug overdose in Bhargava Camp. Also, the Punjab Police had demanded action against the smugglers.
