Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, MB Patil, announced plans for sector-specific industrial parks aimed at fostering comprehensive industrial growth throughout the state. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the event, which runs from February 11-14, he highlighted several key initiatives, including new awards, startup showcases, and programs to promote industrial growth.

The proposed industrial parks will include an Advanced Pharma Park in Srinivasapura, a Solar Cell Manufacturing Plant and Food Park in Vijayapura, a Drone Park in Chitradurga, a Deep-Tech Park at Jangamanakote, a Mega Logistics Park near Dabaspete, and EV Clusters in Chikkaballapura and Dharwad districts.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the event, with Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presiding over the inaugural session on February 11 at 4 PM. Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will also unveil the revamped Single Window System and the new Industrial Policy 2025-30.

Several Union Ministers, including Prahlad Joshi, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Piyush Goyal, are expected to attend the event from February 12-14, along with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who will participate in the closing ceremony.

Patil expressed optimism, anticipating investment proposals totaling Rs 10 lakh crore, with a goal of securing at least 70% of these commitments. The event will also announce the development of a 200-acre Startup Park near Hubballi Airport to support over 400 startups and a 1,200-acre Solar Cell Manufacturing and Agro-Tech Park in Tidagundi, Vijayapura district.

Around 60 leading startups and industry experts will showcase innovations in fields such as autonomous systems, carbon nanotubes, UAVs, and advanced robotics. Patil noted that 19 partner countries will engage in investment and trade discussions, with nine dedicated country pavilions highlighting opportunities for bilateral cooperation. More than 10 sessions will focus on sustainable economic growth, Karnataka’s role in the global supply chain, renewable energy, healthcare, and other sectors.

The Invest Karnataka Awards will be introduced on February 12, recognizing 14 industries for their contributions to the state’s economy. The Sunrise Sector Awards will honor achievements in Aerospace & Defense, Electric Vehicles, and Biotech & Life Sciences, along with special awards for “Highest One-Time Investment” and “Pioneers in Global R&D.” On February 13, the inaugural SME Awards will be presented to over 35 SMEs that have significantly impacted industrial growth, innovation, and employment in Karnataka.

Additionally, district-specific awards will be given, along with recognition for outstanding women entrepreneurs. Under the VentuRISE initiative, nine awards totaling $300,000 will be distributed, including $50,000 for the top startup and smaller amounts for the subsequent places.

The summit will feature over 25 technical sessions, more than 10 country sessions, and around 10 sessions under VentuRISE and SME Connect. Notable discussions will include Montek Singh Ahluwalia on sustaining India’s economic growth amid global uncertainties, and a session titled “Thriving in Turbulence” featuring Shashi Tharoor and George Papandreou.

Patil emphasized that this edition of GIM Invest Karnataka will host twice as many sessions as previous events, featuring marquee speakers such as Anand Mahindra, Sajjan Jindal, and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw. The press conference was attended by key officials including S. Selvakumar, Principal Secretary, and Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner of the Department of Industries.
