New Delhi: BJP candidate Parvesh Verma made history by defeating Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi assembly elections. Following his victory, Verma visited his hometown Mundka on Sunday morning, where he received an enthusiastic welcome. He also paid a visit to the Dada Bhairav Temple in Mundka to offer his prayers.

Verma emphasized that the BJP has secured victories in all of outer Delhi’s seats, drawing parallels to the party’s first win in 1993 when it gained power in the capital. With the BJP preparing to form the government in Delhi, Verma promised to address the needs of all regions, including ‘Delhi Dehaat,’ and expressed his commitment to fulfilling both his father’s dreams and the aspirations of Prime Minister Modi.

“BJP and PM Modi have given me this opportunity to contest for the New Delhi assembly seat. I congratulate all the newly elected MLAs. The BJP has captured all of ‘Bahri Dilli’ (outer Delhi). It feels like the memories of 1993 have returned. I thank everyone for supporting BJP in this victory, enabling us to form the government,” Verma stated. He added, “Our government will work for Delhi Dehaat and other regions, ensuring the dreams of Dr. Sahib Singh Verma and PM Modi are realized. We will enhance the beauty of Delhi, our national capital.”

In a significant win, Parvesh Verma defeated former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by over 4,000 votes in the New Delhi constituency, while Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit finished third with over 4,500 votes.

The BJP won a commanding two-thirds majority in the Delhi assembly elections, which were held on February 5, with results announced on Saturday. The ruling AAP faced significant losses, while the Congress remained unable to secure any seats, continuing its poor performance in the capital. The BJP achieved a historic mandate by winning 48 seats, reclaiming power in Delhi after 27 years.
