New Delhi: Before the Champions Trophy, a tri-series is being played between Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa. Pakistan is hosting the tournament. In the first match on Saturday, New Zealand defeated the home team by a big margin of 78 runs. The match was played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
While fielding in the match, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra was hit by a ball on his head, his head started bleeding, after which he was taken out of the field. It is being claimed on social media that Rachin got this injury due to faulty flood lights.
Due to poor light, he was not able to judge the catch properly and the ball hit him very close to his eye. After this, fans are making various comments about the flood lights.
New Zealand Cricket said after the match
“Rachin suffered a cut on his forehead which was treated on the field but is fine. He has recovered from his first HIA (Head Injury Assessment) and will continue to be monitored under HIA procedures.”
Rachin Ravindra got injured
Rachin Ravindra got injured while fielding in the 38th over. Michael Bracewell bowled a good length ball, Khushdil Shah swept it. The ball went towards mid-wicket towards Rachin, he tried to catch it but could not judge the ball. The ball hit Rachin’s forehead directly and it started bleeding. The support staff took him out of the ground with a cloth on his head. Rachin could not come on the field again, it seems difficult for him to play the second match.
New Zealand won the first ODI by 78 runs
New Zealand chose to bat in Lahore. On the basis of Glenn Phillips’ century, the team scored 330 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, Pakistan was all out after scoring 252 runs in 47.5 overs. New Zealand’s Matt Henry and captain Mitchell Santner took 3-3 wickets. Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman scored a quick 84 runs, but he did not get support from the other batsmen.
