Chandigarh: After the defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, turmoil has started in Punjab as well. Punjab Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa has claimed that 30 MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are in touch with him.
Meanwhile, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal has called the MLAs of Punjab to Delhi. He will meet all the MLAs at Kapurthala Bhawan on Tuesday (11 February) at 11 am. CM Bhagwant Mann and all the ministers will also be present. It is believed that due to this reason, the cabinet meeting of the Punjab government scheduled for February 10 was also postponed.
Elections were held for all 117 assembly seats in Punjab in 2022, in which AAP won 92, Congress 18, BJP 2, Shiromani Akali Dal 3 and BSP 1 seat.
The majority figure in Punjab is 59. In such a situation, even if 30 MLAs leave the party, AAP will still have 62 MLAs and there will be no threat to the government.
However, AAP spokesperson Neel Garg says that a routine meeting of the party is going to be held in Delhi. It is up to the party to decide whether the meeting should be held in Chandigarh or Delhi.

Congress MP from Patiala Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi said that there is anger among the MLAs of Punjab against the central leadership of AAP. These people are occupying the resources and sources of Punjab. They have sent people from outside Punjab to the Rajya Sabha.
They are exploiting in many ways. These are opportunists. People with principles had already left the party. Their MLAs can go anywhere in BJP or Congress. They have no existence left in Punjab. They will be out of power in the 2027 assembly elections.
BJP leader said- AAP MLAs can revolt
On the other hand, former Jalandhar MP and BJP leader Sushil Rinku said that this meeting proves that even today Punjab is being run from Delhi. He said that the way pressure politics goes on inside the party, AAP MLAs can revolt in the coming times.
Punjab AAP leaders did not prove effective
The leaders of the AAP government of Punjab, including CM Mann, enumerated many works done in Punjab during the election campaign in Delhi, but their words had no effect. Because, the government has not yet fulfilled the promise of giving one thousand rupees per month to women in Punjab.
The opposition has been constantly cornering the Punjab government on this issue. AAP had to bear the brunt of this in the Lok Sabha elections as well. Now, after losing power in Delhi too, the government can announce this in the upcoming budget of Punjab.
Now only Punjab is left with AAP
The danger of AAP losing power started looming in 2024 itself, when during the Lok Sabha elections, the party did not win a single seat in Delhi, while in Punjab too it could win only 3 out of 13 seats. After losing Delhi after 10 years, Punjab has now become very important for AAP, because the party has power only in this state.
Therefore, Kejriwal wants to do such work here that can once again increase the influence of the party in Delhi and other states. There are still two years left for the elections in Punjab. In such a situation, the party is not in the mood to make any mistake now. The budget is also to be presented in the coming days.
If sources are to be believed, in this meeting Kejriwal will take feedback on all things and will also talk about the shortcomings in the Delhi elections. Before this, Kejriwal has already held a meeting with the winning MLAs of Delhi.
