Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced that he and his Council of Ministers, along with the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Governor, and various MPs and MLAs, will travel to Prayagraj for a holy dip at the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela 2025 on Thursday. He expressed his gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Speaker of the UP Legislative Assembly for their invitation to participate in the event.
In a statement to reporters, CM Sai noted, “Our entire Council of Ministers, Legislative Assembly Speaker, Governor, and MPs and MLAs will join me in Prayagraj for the holy dip at Maha Kumbh. I’m thankful to UP CM Yogi Adityanath and the Speaker for inviting us.” His wife, Kaushalya Sai, expressed her intention to pray for the state’s well-being, stating, “We are going to seek Maa Ganga’s blessings for more energy in serving Chhattisgarh.”
Meanwhile, the administration reported the successful conclusion of the Magh Purnima ‘snan’ on Wednesday. Anuj Jha, Secretary of the Urban Development Department, highlighted this success as an important milestone, mentioning that “the snan of Maghi Purnima was completed efficiently. Lakhs of Kalpavasis and crores of pilgrims have visited in the last month.”
As of February 11, 2025, the total number of devotees who have participated in the snan since the festival began has surpassed 462.5 million, with anticipation of even larger crowds as more auspicious bathing dates approach.
Uttar Pradesh’s Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar discussed the arrangements made for the fifth snan, emphasizing lessons learned from the previous Mauni Amavasya incident. He mentioned the implementation of the ‘Build Back Better’ management technique and the importance of community feedback to enhance safety and logistics for the pilgrims. “This is the 5th snan of Maha Kumbh 2025,” the DGP noted, adding that the forthcoming Snan of Maha Shivratri will follow.
Mahakumbh 2025, which started on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is recognized as the largest spiritual and cultural event globally, drawing devotees from around the world, and will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.
