5th meeting between Center and farmers in Chandigarh today: 28 farmer leaders including Dallewal to take part

Dallewal, who has been on a fast to death for 81 days, will leave for Chandigarh from the Khanauri border at 11 am.

Farmers protesting at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders of Haryana-Punjab will hold the fifth round of talks with the Centre in Chandigarh today (February 14). 28 farmer leaders will participate in it on behalf of the farmers. Jagjit Dallewal from the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Sarwan Pandher from the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha will lead them. The farmers are demanding a legal guarantee of minimum support price for crops.

Dallewal, who has been on a fast to death for 81 days, will leave for Chandigarh from the Khanauri border at 11 am. Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Khudian will attend this meeting on behalf of the Punjab government.

The Centre has not yet given information about who will attend the meeting. The meeting will be held at the MGSIPA office in Sector 26, Chandigarh at 5.30 pm. Sarwan Pandher warned that if no solution is found in the meeting, the farmers will march towards Delhi.

The Centre has held talks with the farmers four times so far

The farmers’ agitation at Shambhu and Khanauri borders started on 13 February 2024. Then they set out to march towards Delhi but the police stopped them by barricading them. They have been sitting there since then. After this, four meetings were held between the agitating farmers and the central government in Chandigarh but no decision was taken. Then three Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Arjun Munda and Nityanand Rai from the Centre joined it.
