Shimla: The Revenue Department in Himachal Pradesh has made a major change in the format of the e-KYC process of lands. Now instead of the land account, every land owner will have to get his e-KYC done. Earlier this process was being done on the basis of accounts, in which the entire account was considered verified if only one person got e-KYC done.
But in many accounts, 30-40 people are owners, due to which the e-KYC of the rest of the owners remained incomplete. In view of this shortcoming, the Central Government has now implemented the mandatory e-KYC according to the land owner. Hence the process has been changed. This work is being done in the state under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Program (DILRMP), in which land is being linked to Aadhaar.
Earlier e-KYC was being done based on accounts, but many discrepancies were found in it. The Central Government, expressing objection, directed to change the process so that separate identification and verification of every land owner can be ensured. How much e-KYC has been completed so far: Under the new system, e-KYC of a total 27 percent land owners has been done in Himachal Pradesh so far.
Whereas under the earlier process more than 60 percent e-KYC had been completed. Due to the new format, it has now become necessary to contact all the landowners, due to which the pace of work has slowed down a bit. District wise status: So far, maximum e-KYC work has been done in Kinnaur district and least in Kangra and Shimla districts. 35 percent e-KYC work has been completed in Bilaspur district, 28 per cent in Chamba, 40 per cent in Hamirpur, 22 per cent in Kangra, 44 per cent in Kinnaur, 29 percent in Kullu, 37 per cent in Lahaul-Spiti, 31 per cent in Mandi, 22 per cent in Shimla, 23 per cent in Sirmaur, 27 per cent in Solan and 28 per cent in Una. Laghad and Khundiyan tehsils are ahead, Shimla urban is backward. Laghad and Khundiyan tehsils of Kangra district are ahead in getting e-KYC of lands done in the region. 49-49 per cent work has been completed in both these tehsils.
Shimla urban tehsil is lagging behind, where only 11 per cent work has been completed. In the tehsils of the state where e-KYC work of land has been done more than 45 percent, 45-45 percent work has been done in Barsar and Datwal of district Hamirpur, 48 percent in Bhota, 48 percent in Murang of district Kinnaur and 45 percent in Sangla. Whereas in the tehsils where e-KYC work has been done less than 15 percent, 12 percent work has been completed in Baijnath, 15 percent in Dharamshala, 13-13 percent in Nurpur and Palampur and 15 percent in Shahpur. Appeal of officialsRevenue Department Director Ritika said that the work of land e-KYC is being done at a fast pace in the state. She appealed to all the land owners to complete their e-KYC process as soon as possible, so that government records can be updated and land disputes can be avoided in future.
