Shimla: There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in the high altitude remote hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh today, while the weather will remain clear in most areas. Yesterday there was light rain and snowfall in the high altitude areas of the state.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in the state will remain dry on February 16 and 17. However, Western Disturbance will be active from February 18 to 21. During this period, heavy rains are expected in the high altitude areas of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur and Chamba. There may be rain in other parts of the state on February 19.
After fresh snowfall, the maximum temperature in many areas may fall by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours. After this, there will be a gradual increase of up to 5 degrees Celsius in the next 3-4 days. The minimum temperature will also fall by 2 to 3 degrees, but after two days of dry weather, there is a possibility of a slight increase in temperature.
There will be good rain and snowfall on February 20
According to the weather department, there may be light snowfall in the higher regions today. Tomorrow, i.e. from 16th to 18th February, the weather will be clear across the state. Western disturbance will become active again on 19th February. Due to this, there is a forecast of rain and snowfall for the next 48 hours. Especially on 20th February, there are chances of good rain and snowfall.
77 percent less rain than normal in winter season
If the weather department is to be believed, Himachal has received 77 percent less rainfall than normal this winter season. The normal rainfall in the state from January 1 to February 13 is 130.3 mm, but this time only 29.6 mm of rain has been received.
