New Delhi: Massive crowds of devotees have descended on Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, causing significant strain on local police and administrative resources. By 4 a.m. on Monday, traffic came to a standstill, with vehicles backed up for 25 kilometers, frustrating and distressing passengers.

The influx of worshippers has led to severe congestion on roads leading to major religious sites like the Ram Temple, Janmabhoomi Path, and Hanuman Garhi. Inadequate police presence and the traffic chaos resulted in tense situations, with some travelers attempting to break through barricades.

Despite government efforts to widen roads and enhance infrastructure ahead of this anticipated surge of pilgrims, Ayodhya’s narrow streets have remained heavily congested, making navigation nearly impossible as every route is blocked by crowds.

This influx follows a trend seen earlier in the week, where a large number of devotees began arriving after the holy dip at Prayagraj on Mauni Amavasya. The streets of Ayodhya were filled overnight, echoing with “Jai Shri Ram” chants at dawn.

Experts suggest that around 6.5 million devotees have arrived in Ayodhya within a 96-hour period, straining the city’s infrastructure. To address the situation, senior officials have been actively overseeing arrangements throughout the night. Many pilgrims are traveling directly from Prayagraj to Ayodhya in demonstration of their devotion. Notably, Ayodhya also saw a large crowd around Republic Day, when over 2.5 million devotees visited Ram Lalla in just 30 hours.
