Dharamshala: A prisoner who was being brought to court for hearing on Wednesday afternoon in Dharamshala, the district headquarters of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, escaped from police custody.
The accused has been identified as Rajat alias Rajju, resident of Ward-7 Dunga Bazaar Mandir Road Kangra. Cases of theft and tampering with evidence are registered against the accused in Gaggal and Kangra police stations. In these cases, the accused was imprisoned in District Jail Dharamshala.
The accused was to appear in court on Wednesday. During this, the accused escaped by dodging the police. Since the prisoner escaped from police custody, the police team has started searching for him.
Due to the possibility of the prisoner hiding towards Dadi, he is being searched in the surrounding areas besides Dadi. ASP Kangra Hitesh Lakhanpal said that the search for the escaped prisoner is on and he will be arrested soon.
