A technical team will come from Chandigarh today to investigate the entire matter. This underpass is being built by Haryana State Roads and Bridge Corporation (HSRDC) at a cost of about Rs 20 crore.

Homeowners said that the drain was made of substandard material

Homeowners Zora Singh, Jogiram and Rammehar said that the drain built by the contractor here was made of substandard material. This is why the drain collapsed and the soil slid. Due to the collapse of the soil, the people living in the houses got frightened. Seeing the danger of the house collapsing, with the help of neighbors, they put up a ladder and came out of the houses through the empty plot and the roof. The animals remained trapped inside the house.

DGM said- Land slipped due to rain

Regarding this, HSRDC DGM Shashank Kumar said that the land of the underpass under construction slipped due to the rain on Thursday night. Soil is being filled in front of the houses with the help of labour. The distance between the houses on both sides of the underpass is very less. Drain and service road are to be built in this remaining space.
