New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bhagalpur today to launch the 19th installment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi, focusing on the well-being and prosperity of farmers. During his visit, he will also address a public rally at the Airport Ground as part of the lead-up to the 2025 Bihar elections. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will join him, and the rally is expected to draw around 500,000 farmers.

The event will feature the distribution of the Kisan Samman Nidhi, along with a public meeting. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain mentioned that the rally will see the attendance of senior NDA leaders and participants from 13 districts, including Bhagalpur, Munger, and Begusarai. BJP leaders express confidence in winning over 200 seats in Bihar, attributing their optimism to the strong NDA alliance and the effective governance of PM Modi and Nitish Kumar. “Just like in Delhi, we aim to secure victory in the upcoming Bihar elections,” Hussain stated.

The BJP, JD(U), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustan Awam Morcha, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha are part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar. In contrast, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav criticized PM Modi’s visit, suggesting it was driven by the impending elections, with the assembly elections scheduled for November-December this year. Yadav pointed out the lack of progress in Bihar, noting that despite Modi’s 11 years in power, Patna University has not been granted Central University status. He expressed doubts about the government’s dedication to the state’s development.

RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav also dismissed the significance of the recent Delhi election results for Bihar, claiming that the BJP has no chance of forming a government in the state. He stated that the public has recognized the BJP’s shortcomings, asserting, “There will be no impact. How can they form the government while we are here? The people have now recognized the BJP.” The Bihar Legislative Assembly election, covering all 243 constituencies, is set for October or November this year, following the last elections held in the same months in 2020.
