Shimla: Western Disturbance (WD) is getting active in Himachal Pradesh from tonight. Its effect will be visible for the next three days. There is a possibility of good rain and snowfall in the mountains for the next 72 hours.
According to the Meteorological Department, most of the WDs that have been active in January and February so far entered the state very quickly and weakened after less rainfall. However, this time the WD will remain active for more than 72 hours. This is likely to lead to good rainfall and snowfall.
There is a possibility of snowfall in these districts tomorrow
According to Meteorological Centre Shimla, the weather will be clear across the state today. From tomorrow, snowfall is expected in the higher regions of four districts Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi. WD will be more active on Shivratri i.e. on 26 February. Due to this, heavy snowfall may occur in some areas on 26 and 27 February.

In view of the activity of WD, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts. There is a possibility of good rain in other areas of the state. At the same time, a warning of thunderstorm has been issued in Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur and Una, while a cold wave alert has been issued for Una, Bilaspur and Hamirpur districts on 26 and 27 February.
Temperatures rise before rain and snowfall
Before the rain and snowfall, the temperature of most cities in the state has become higher than normal. The temperature of Kangra and Bhuntar has increased by 4.5 degrees. The mercury of Bhuntar has reached 23.6 degrees Celsius after a rise of 5.5 degrees in the last 24 hours. The temperature of Chamba has also increased by 5.4 degrees to 22.7 degrees Celsius.
